Through a series of coincidences, Kiwi arrived in our life, age unknown, past a little mysterious, but with a softness in her eyes that hinted at everything she’d survived. Rescued from South Korea, Kiwi had already traveled farther than most dogs ever will, carrying both resilience and hope. Along her journey, she met friends who helped her rediscover safety and joy: the people who cared for her during her rescue, the animals who shared space with her, and the kind souls who believed she deserved a second chance. Each connection nudged her a little closer to the life she has now, and we are so happy she is finally home with us.
While definitely a senior pup, Kiwi loves to play and shows excitement wherever she goes. She loves everyone and will “gently” nudge anyone within reach for more pets. Her gentle spirit, her quiet bravery, and the way she has leaned into trust has been a lesson for all who know and love her.
And then there’s Poppy, her golden retriever sister, full of teenage angst and big feelings. Poppy adores Kiwi in her own dramatic, still-learning-how-to-share way. Watching the two of them figure each other out has been its own kind of joy: Kiwi with her calm wisdom, and Poppy with her only child energy, becoming the sweetest, funniest little duo. I am so lucky they are both mine.
