Thank you so much to all of you who attended GRRIN’s Gold Rush 2014 event!

In spite of the cool weather, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves – especially the four-legged “everyones!”

This year, we had 140 people/families in attendance – and 70 dogs, 33 of which were GRRIN goldens!

Of course, we couldn’t have done this without all of our volunteers, so thank you so much to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to make Gold Rush a success.

Events

In case you missed it (or even if you didn’t), there was so much to do!

Educational Programs: Educational programs included info on the AKC Canine Good Citizen program (Cheryl Wilson) and a demonstration by Offutt AFB military dog handlers.

Ask-a-Vet: Ask-a-Vet with Dr. Melody Kaliff, Animal Clinic Suburban, Omaha

Games: Tons of fun games, including the cakewalk, BINGOlden, the Shoe Pile, and face painting! Special thanks to the following volunteers for running these activities: 

• Cake Walk: Bruce and Bobbi Moore, and Katie Alexander
• Shoe Pile: Sue Sprinkel, Michele Brixius, Audrey Baker, and Ian Hasterlo
• BINGO: Drew Fruin, Molly Nannen, Amy Bazer, Amy Moore, and Kenzie Coleman

Parade of Rescues: It was inspiring to see so many “fur-ever” families. It was a great reminder of why GRRIN does what it does.

Donations: Even though Gold Rush is not a fundraising event, we received over $1200 in donations! Thank you so much for your generosity!

Costume Contest: There was a costume contest for the canine attendees! First, second, and third place were awarded.

GRRIN Store: Doormats and tie-dye tees went out the door, along with almost every long-sleeved shirt in inventory!

Silent Auction: The 2 Southwest Airlines round-trip tickets went for $1000 – with all proceeds going to GRRIN! Thank you to Southwest Airlines for its generous donation, and thank you to all of the bidders – especially the winning bidder!

Vendor Booths: Lots of free goodies and coupons were handed out by our generous vendors!

Special Emcee:Ricky Woods from the Star 104.5 morning show was there to help lend a special voice to the event.
