In memory of Scout 20-05

This little boy with the cutest, photogenic face was the most unusual Golden with a mysterious, unique personality. We called him Little Boy, Scout because of his determination, loyalty, friendliness…just like a true Boy Scout.

We really never knew how old he was and little is known about his early life, except that it wasn’t ideal. Later when he was maybe 4-5 years old, he was adopted by an Omaha family where he lived for maybe four years. The reason for his surrender was also very questionable. When entering GRRIN he went to a fabulous foster home for several months where they cared for him, took him to many medical appointments and nursed him after several medical procedures. Scout would always rebound and continued to be happy in his own way.

He was adopted by a family and soon after was diagnosed with cancer: they surrendered him back to GRRIN. Scout returned to the same foster home, underwent major surgery and was cared for by the same fosters where he quickly recovered again.

Several months later, I adopted him. For three years he enjoyed being around his two fur-sisters, learned to run and play in the yard, and most of all LOVED going to the park daily. Scout always was very anxious and had an internal clock where he would let me know precisely when it was time to go to the park, to prepare his meals, time to go to bed. He never played with toys nor ever wanted to snuggle, but he was always happy, smiling, felt safe, and enjoyed knowing he was loved and wanted.

We will always remember, love and miss your infectious smile Little Boy, Scout.

Scout graced this world from 2010 to May 20, 2024 and was estimated to be 14 years old.
