In Celebration of Cecilia (12-20)
A female Golden Retriever puppy was born on January 29, 2004, in Cleveland, Ohio. She had a sweet puppy face that she’d retain all of her life. When she was old enough, she went to live with Miles and Kim. They named her Cecilia, after the patron saint of music. Cecilia was the epitome’ of a Golden Retriever – smart, loyal, and eager-to-please. But most of all she loved her family. She loved unconditionally, and always wanted to be in on the action.
After a couple of years, Cecilia and her family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she loved to lead her owners on hikes in the mountains. Cecilia and her family then made their way to Omaha. She continued her love of the outdoors (whatever the weather), but she particularly loved to plop down in a pile of snow and just hang out. When Miles and Kim welcomed their daughter, Kenzie, Cecilia stepped up and assumed the role of canine step-mom, watching over the little one as she grew.
Cecilia encountered some troubling medical conditions, and Miles and Kim reached out to GRRIN for help. GRRIN took her into their program, and arranged for specialist vet care. Unfortunately the conditions quickly became overwhelming for sweet Cecilia, and the tough but loving decision was made to release her from her struggle on June 18, 2012. Even though Cecilia was only a GRRIN dog for a short time, she touched the lives and hearts of it’s volunteers. Once a GRRIN dog, always a GRRIN dog…and Cecilia was a prime example of why GRRIN does what it does.
