In October of 2022 Marley was surrendered to GRRIN by a shelter that found him as a stray with no history and no name. The surrendering shelter felt that GRRIN had the needed resources that could help Marley who had some serious medical issues. He was suffering from a severe ear infection that was resistant to medication, and eventually he had to have his ear canal removed.
In the beginning we were only going to foster, but after about a week it was obvious that Marley had different ideas for the family. When I was in the house, Marley remained close to my side not taking his eyes off me. If I left the house for five minutes, he would not leave the back door until I was safely home. So, in the end we adopted Marley, or he adopted us. It was a definite mutual decision between family and dog.
We have no idea what Marley’s previous life was like. We can only tell you that Marley had a way of making every day worth living. He had nothing but positive traits. Marley was very affectionate and loyal. He was a charmer, a cuddler and above all one big gentle giant who loved everyone.
We cannot thank GRRIN enough for all that they did to ensure that Marley received the best medical care allowing him to live out his life to the fullest. In turn, by entrusting us with Marley, our lives were filled with more love and joy than could ever be expected.
Marley may have come in as a pauper, but we would like to think while with us he lived the life of a prince. The time we had with Marley was all too short. He passed away suddenly from cancer in June of 2024.
