Hi my name is Sasha. Just a long overdue update on my new life in Lincoln. I came to my new home in Lincoln in July, 2021 and I love my new home, especially my back yard! I spend lots of time there bird watching, sniffing good smells, and (best of all) napping. Old girls like me need our beauty rest. My new mom and dad give me lots of pets and scratches and let me sleep wherever I like. My vet says I’m in really good shape for a true senior (14 now) like me. Mom and dad say … Continue reading
Gunner and Reagan are home!! We were so happy to join our new family, which includes our mom and dad (Clayton and Keegan) and our new fur sibling Finn! We are all getting along great and together we enjoy lots of walks around the neighborhood, playing fetch with the tennis ball, and of course, taking naps on the couch. We felt at home right away and have already learned a few tricks like sitting, staying, and walking on a leash. We continue to work on our obedience skills and have a trainer helping us! Thank you to everyone at GRRIN … Continue reading

Betsy’s forever family started fostering her and her brother, Charlie 21-10, at the end of July 2021. They were two of four VERY special Goldendoodle puppies who came into GRRIN rescue. This quartet (which includes Millie 21-11 and Frank 21-12) has had an amazing journey after being surrendered to GRRIN at a very young age when it was discovered they were blind from birth. It was clear almost from the beginning these pups were destined and determined to be normal, active, loving, and well-adjusted dogs who needed a bit of extra training and attention. At first, Betsy seemed a little … Continue reading
Hi! Millie here! I am one of the four blind Goldendoodle puppies who were surrendered to GRRIN. I really don’t know that I am blind, because you know, I can see with my heart! I was in the best foster home with my brother Franklin. I learned so much from my foster mom and dad and foster sister Ruby. Best of all, I learned how to snuggle! On September 22nd, I got adopted by my furever mom and dad, and I am going to learn so much more as I get older. I am mom’s emotional support service dog. I … Continue reading
Update on Charlie 21-10: As one of four blind Goldendoodle puppies surrendered to GRRIN in 2021, he continues to do just great. His forever family calls him an absolute delight! He’s learning commands, walking well on-leash, and getting the hang of all the ins and out of being a more grown-up dog having just hit eight months old. Charlie has also become a good traveler since he gets to winter in Texas with his family, including their resident Golden Retriever, Abby. We’re told he loves meeting people on walks, knows everyone, and has made tons of friends. He is … Continue reading
Hi, I am Franklin (Frank), and I am one of the four blind goldendoodle puppies who were surrendered to GRRIN. My dad knew that mommy’s dream dog had always been a golden doodle (mommy always wanted to therapy train a goldendoodle, so she could take it to school with her each day). My dad also knew that if he told mommy about me, a goldendoodle who was born blind, that she would never be able to say no to me. My mommy is a special education teacher, so adopting a dog with special needs holds such a special place in … Continue reading
Hello, Ellie here. I am 2 years old and I just got adopted into my forever home with Wendy and Terri. They have a huge backyard and I spend a lot of my time zooming around back there. I have my favorite spot on the hill where I can sit and watch everything that goes on in my new domain. I’m pretty much the boss back there and the squirrels and rabbits know better than to invade my space when I’m on watch. I am also getting lots of walks where I see other dogs and people. I get very … Continue reading
Hello everyone! My name is Gertie and I am a 3 year old golden doodle! I was recently adopted by my foster parents, Keith and Laura. My official adoption day was the exact same day as their wedding anniversary AND my birthday – June 24th. I figure I was the BEST anniversary present ever! Let’s see, 25 years is the silver anniversary and 50 is the golden …so 16 must have been “dog!” I have a brother and a sister whom I love. My mom says we need to buy a bigger car now that I have joined the family, … Continue reading
We’re very happy to report that Maxie found her forever home! She quickly found a place in our hearts. Maxie is a big puppy full of energy and loves exploring our backyard. She seems to fit in nicely with the neighbor dogs, too. She especially loves car rides! Thank you GRRIN for everything you do and for bringing Maxie into our lives! We just love her!
I am home!! It feels so good! I was a scared little girl when I came to stay at my GRRIN foster home. What a changed girl I am now! I became very secure and confident with myself at my foster home. Mom and Dad helped me over my fears. One of my favorite things to do was to “counter surf” which I still try to do. I have taught Mom and Dad to keep food out of my reach! I have wormed my way into their hearts and they have fallen in love with me. I am quite the … Continue reading
Loving, caring, silly, attentive. Those are the first words that come to my mind when I think of Jax. We adopted Jax at the end of March and he without a doubt makes us smile every single day. He is such a joyful and wonderful 5 year old golden retriever. Don’t let his age fool you, at 5 years old he still loves to fetch, fit as many toys in his mouth at once, play tug of war, and steal hugs every chance he gets. We are so thankful to GRRIN and all the volunteers who helped in our adoption … Continue reading
I found my forever home! Check back to see my Happy Tail.
This winter hasn’t been the best for Julie and me. I have been recovering from back surgery and we lost one of the greatest dogs we’ve had on New Year’s Eve, Barney, our adopted Golden who we got from GRRIN 10 years ago. The house was just too empty without him in our family. Luckily, GRRIN did offer us the opportunity to adopt Andy, a beautiful and affectionate 2 ½ year old boy just recently surrendered. Andy lived his life outdoors on a farm, coming into the house, as we understand it, for about an hour a day. Unfortunately he … Continue reading
Hello, everyone! I’m the distinguished golden Riley! Now happily settled in my forever home, my journey began when I was surrendered to GRRIN by Capital Humane Society in Lincoln. Despite my “maturity” and being a little stiff in the legs (gee, who isn’t??) the GRRIN folks immediately recognized my sweet attitude, how I loved life (and tummy rubs!), and knew they could help me find a permanent home. They did it! Before I go on, I must give a huge shout-out to my foster dad and his Golden. Thank you! Anyway, I have landed in the best family ever with … Continue reading
What a blessing to have (Lucky) Lucy become part of our family. She and our other dog, Sadie, became fast friends. To say Lucy is obsessed with playing ball is an understatement. She’d play forever if we would! She loves walks but definitely wants the lead so we’ve begun working on the pulling. She always likes to be with us and is good at snuggling. We have fallen in love with her and we truly feel “lucky” that she has joined our family and fit in so well.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time! I’m Maggie, a GRRIN dog who was recently adopted. My foster folks, Grace and Sean, came into my life at a time when I needed a place where I could be the only pet (and top dog, of course!) in a loving home. I hit the jackpot when they decided to give me a forever home. I’m told I got into a routine with them right away – almost as if I’d lived there my entire life. Grace and Sean say I’m a really smart girl, super athletic, and … Continue reading
I am a very lucky girl. I’ve had two families who loved me and helped me become who I am today. Since I was a puppy, I lived with the only family I can remember. I learned many skills to succeed from them and being a smart girl, picked up on things very quickly. I had a good German Shepherd friend but sadly, he got old and crossed the Rainbow Bridge. After my friend left, two new dogs came to my home and I had a hard time getting along with them. Though it broke my family’s heart, they knew … Continue reading
Hello everyone! My name is Copper and I’m so happy to be in my forever home! My foster family fell in love with my goofy personality so they kept me. I’ve learned so much since I’ve been here. I was pretty nervous when I came but my brother Gunner showed me the ropes. We play every day! We love to play chase, wrestle, play tug of war, or just get attention! I love to chew on anything – my mom has to search for toys that I can’t destroy or eat. I like all of my toys and carry them … Continue reading
When we first contacted GRRIN to become foster parents, we had a 13-year-old Golden Retriever named Mishka. Shortly after our home visit, Mishka passed away. Our family of 5 was heartbroken. Just 12 days after her passing we got a call to foster Sadie. She needed to leave her home due to no fault of her own. We wondered if it was too soon but wanted to help Sadie out. She came to live with us while we nursed her back from the injuries she received in a fight and she mended our hearts. Sadie is as happy to be … Continue reading
Sammy has been a great addition to our family. His laid back demeanor is a contrast to our Vizsla Bodie. They both have boundless energy and love to play all day. When Sammy starts to get vocal he sounds a lot like chewbacca, which makes us laugh. Megan’s co-workers love to see Sammy’s tail make an appearance during their zoom meetings. It has been suggested that Sammy’s tail get its own Instagram account. We’ve started to do some additional training with Sammy to try and get him better at walking on a leash. He’s a smart dog so I’m sure … Continue reading
Hi there! Murphy here! Still living the good life and acting like a boy half my age. After I had to leave my first home, I wasn’t sure where I was going to end up. Then, GRRIN took me in and put me with a foster family. Well, we thought it was going to be temporary, but it turns out that we’ve all gotten pretty used to each other and we’ve decided that we’d all like to keep it that way! I have officially become a permanent foster! This means that I will still be under the care of GRRIN, … Continue reading
Hi everyone! I am Lexi. As you have read on the Happy Tails story, that I came into GRRIN with my older “brother”, Kobe. I had always lived with him. We were a pair, for sure. Our original family was moving and could not take us with them. We were so lucky to come into the GRRIN family! We got to live with Amy and her dog, Lilly. Lilly was very good about giving us space and freedom in the home where she had always been the only dog. When we came into GRRIN, the vet found a big lump … Continue reading
Faith was rescued from a breeder in Missouri on February 29th. She was initially very timid and scared of her older siblings (Dash and Maggie) and often hid under the kitchen table or in between your legs. After a few weeks, she become more social, leading to Faith and Dash becoming best friends. They are constantly playing with each other and wearing each other out. Although our intentions were to foster Faith, after a 3-month foster period (thanks to Covid), we couldn’t give her up! She was already a part of our family. Faith is always happy to cuddle up … Continue reading
