Happy Tails

Our goal in GRRIN is to get every foster dog to their forever home. Each “Happy Tail” is a reflection of the caring effort shared by volunteers and the families who open up their homes to a rescued Golden Retriever.

06-54 Murphy

I’m home! I’m finally home!! Hi. My name is Murphy and I came to live at a foster home a while ago. My foster parents had a nice, safe home. They are very nice and they had another dog for me to play with too. I liked it at their house because they really loved me up. I even got to stay at another foster home for a few days, with two other Goldens, while my foster parents were on vacation. That was fun too. But, as nice as all of that sounds and as much as I liked living … Continue reading

07-62 Bailey

HI! I’m Bailey – a tall, huge, lovable GOLDEN. I came into GRRIN because my prior family could no longer keep me. I was fostered by Terry and Lori, along with their Goldens Harley and Maggie. Terry said that I was so tall that I should come with a saddle! One day I went to a GRRIN event at the Nebraska Furniture Mart. I met a great family from Sioux City. Things started clicking right away. So much so that they made another trip to my foster-home in Lincoln to meet me again. It was a match! I was soon … Continue reading

07-61 Izzy

Hi, my name is Izzy and I am a year and a half old. Lindsey and Josh adopted me and they say I was a great addition to their family. Their family consists of two cats, Belle and Beau, and me. I get along with them great! I get to go on a walk every morning, and sometimes a nice run. I love going on walks and glad my parents do too. I am taking obedience classes and have already graduated from Beginner class. I did so well in that they signed me up for Intermediate class. I’m the only … Continue reading

07-50 Digby

Well, it was quite a journey, but I finally found my forever-home! I started my journey into GRRIN at the Council Bluffs Animal Shelter. I was picked up as a stray, and wasn’t claimed. Carla told the good GRRIN folks about me, and it wasn’t long until Tim arrived to spring me from doggie-jail! He took me home, where I met his son, Joel, and my new Golden-Foster-Brothers Harry and Elliot. I eventually settled into the household routine like I had been there all of my life. I struggled a little with some joint issues and seizures, but I received … Continue reading

07-41 Walter

I’m a shy guy, and when I came into foster care they called me Walter the Worrier. But over the past few months I’ve learned to do lots of new things, and I’m getting braver all the time. Now I go by Walter the Wonder Dog! I love to be around other dogs, so my mom takes me to play dates, obedience classes, and even doggie daycare. My new sister Molly has been a big help with showing me how to act confident. Molly is also a GRRIN dog, adopted in 2001. My foster parents, Mike and Jean, adopted me … Continue reading

07-08 Simon 07-45 Riley

We’re Simon (on your right) and Riley (on your left). I (Riley) was rescued by GRRIN after my original family decided that I had too much energy and they didn’t have enough time to work with me. I (Simon) entered GRRIN by the way of the Holt County Humane Society. Volunteers there rescued me from a woman who tied me outside all of the time – almost 2 years! The volunteers called GRRIN, and I was accepted into their program. I (Riley) was adopted by Merrie and John. Merrie says that I’m a big bundle of energy who doesn’t fear … Continue reading

07-56 Brinkley

My name is Brinkley. I was not with GRRIN long before Bud and Marion met me and knew that they could not live without me. They say that I have brought some “spice” to their lives – I think that’s a good thing! I have gone to obedience school and learned how to behave and my new family takes me on lots of walks. I am pretty spoiled, which I don’t mind at all. I am so happy to have found my forever home.

07-54 Murphy

My name is Murphy and I am a beautiful golden-colored Golden Girl. My first family had me since I was just a little pup, 5 years ago. They said they don’t have time for me now and think I may have developed an allergy which is why I licked at my front leg until I got a “hot spot”. I lived for awhile with a nice foster home and learned what a cat was! They had another Golden and I pretty much ignored him as I would rather pay attention to the humans in the house. Then one day this … Continue reading

07-52 Sammie

My name is Sammie and most of my past has been a complete mystery to those who know me. I’ve had at least several homes, and at one time I was adopted from the Humane Society. Even though the road was rough it was well worth it to get the home I’m in now. They say I’ll never have to leave, and they have spoiled me every day that I’ve been here. Right away they went to the pet store and bought me several beautiful dog beds. Somehow even those weren’t enough for a princess such as myself. This thing … Continue reading

07-37 Daisey

Hi my name is Daisey. I came into GRRIN when my prior owner needed to simplify her life. The transition was a bit difficult because I was formerly an outside dog. I was a shy girl, and toys and stairs were brand new to me. While I was being fostered by Sarah, I met a brand new buddy in Sarah’s other Golden, Dublin. Sarah, Dublin, and Daisey-Bear (as Sarah calls me because of my face having a gentle teddy bear-like appearance), are now a forever-family. Sarah proudly adopted me in the month of August.

07-35 Maybea (Mabes)

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be living as an inside dog. I used to live in an outdoor kennel my whole life until recently when Merry and Ken adopted me. I’m helping to fill the void left from the loss of their Golden Retriever, Flash. No one can ever replace him, and it sounds like I’ve got mighty big paws to fill! Luckily they love me just the way I am. I have a pool to swim in, and I get to go on a lot of walks. Harley, another GRRIN dog, lives right next door … Continue reading

07-30 Duke

My name is Duke and I was surrendered when my owner moved. I was in three foster homes and got along well in each. I am very excited to finally be in my new forever home with Michelle and her other Golden, Sandy. I loved my foster home, but when Michelle came to meet me I fell in love with her and was such a charming gentleman that she knew she could not live without me! At my new home I am in “Golden Heaven”. My new mom treats me like a king. I have my own HUGE bed, and … Continue reading

07-25 Bubba

My name is Bubba, and I’m a smaller dog then when I came into GRRIN. I was 108 pounds and at last check I am now 90 pounds. I may be even less than that now. I’m a good dog. I know how to sit, down, sit up, speak, whisper, carry bags or sacks for my Mom. I’m’ a little sound sensitive but am a very sweet handsome gentleman. I make Carol smile every day and I felt a connection from the moment she picked me up at the vet. My thyroid is now in the high normal range with … Continue reading

07-18 Joe aka Cujo

My name is “Joe” (07-18) aka Cujo (yuck). I came into GRRIN when my owners were building a new house and didn’t want to take me with them. A nice lady picked me up at the Veterinary Clinic in Omaha and said I could stay with her for awhile. She was so nice and didn’t mind that I had lipomas (lumps) all over my body and my teeth were dirty. She took me home and they had two really nice dogs that liked me. After a teeth cleaning and a good bath, I looked pretty good. It took Tim and … Continue reading

07-16 Winston

My Mom loved me to pieces, but decided that apartment living wasn’t good enough for me. She knew I wanted my own fenced in yard to play in. I will never forget her or how she cared for me. I have a new home with Kathryn and Bruce and their two girls. I’m their only pet so I get lots of attention. I have many new toys, but for some reason I try to eat socks and other things that “don’t belong to the dog”. My new family laughs at how I like to watch TV. Anytime an animal is … Continue reading

03-16 George

My name is George, and I’ve been with my human Bill for two months now. This is the 4th home I’ve had in three years, but Bill told me I can stay here forever! It’s really a great life here! I get to go to lots of places with Bill. Sometimes we go to the store, or to visit friends; but the destination doesn’t really matter—doing it TOGETHER is the best part; besides, riding in the Blazer is FUN! (I like the driver’s seat the best.) Bill understands me, and I think I’ve got his routine down now. I bark … Continue reading

07-13 Rosie

Rosie has been adopted by Gary and Shannon. The foster mom met Shannon at Gold Rush this year and knew it was a perfect match! Her new forever mom has a gentle, sweet personality just like Rosie. Shannon is home with Rosie all day and if she does go somewhere Rosie usually goes in the car with her. Rosie has had tremendous improvement in her separation anxiety. She has new cat friends in her home and is trying to convince them to play with her. She is also asking her new mom for another golden friend some day! Lana Kinnear … Continue reading

07-09 Daisy

I’m 6 years old and a perfect 70 pounds. My family was splitting up so I needed to find a new home. My favorite thing in the world is chasing the beam of a flashlight. Playing in a kid’s swimming pool or a sprinkler are other things I enjoy. I’m a smart girl because I know a few commands and I can open gates! After just a few weeks in my foster home with Terry and Lori, this great couple came to meet me and brought me home with them. Wayne and Linda thoroughly enjoy having me in their family. … Continue reading

07-07 Mac

My name is Mac and I was a sick dog when I was surrendered to GRRIN. I hadn’t been to the vet since I was a puppy and I’m 4 years old now. I spent that time in the yard and I picked up just about every worm there is, including heartworm. So GRRIN’s first goal was to make me healthy again. John and Gay took very good care of me and I got a clean bill of health. Then I went to Elbert’s to learn how to get along with other dogs since I didn’t have any experience with … Continue reading

07-06 Sam

I’m Sam (formerly Rodney) and I’m about two years old. I’m a bit of a mystery man. I wandered onto a farm in northeast Nebraska and the farmer liked me a lot. However, I chased his wife’s cats and she didn’t like that. So I went to the Northeast Nebraska Humane Society. I was there for a couple months and shared an outdoor kennel with a great guy named Toby. The nice people there thought that GRRIN might be able to find a good home for me. Chris was supposed to take me to a new home, but she fell … Continue reading

07-02 Jasmine

My name is Jasmine and I’m about one year old. I was happy when GRRIN rescued me because I lived with 12 other dogs at a breeder’s house. I was kept in an indoor kennel and didn’t get much attention. A couple of the other dogs and I tried to escape a few times and that’s why I was given to GRRIN. Because I hadn’t had much experience in the world, I was a bit shy when I came to my foster home, but Beth and her friend, Scout, took good care of me and gave me lots of attention. … Continue reading

06-47 Pumpkin

I was left at a vet’s by a lady who had been given me as a present by her “ex” boyfriend. Neither wanted me anymore. The vet contacted a GRRIN member and I came into rescue. I was four months old at the time and was fostered by Barb and Peter. Because of Barb’s expertise with raising puppies and my high intelligence, I was housetrained, learned my manners and several commands very quickly. I found my “forever” home with Diane who fell in love with me immediately! We go on long walks together daily and I have made friends with … Continue reading

03-51 Britt

I was already adopted through GRRIN in 2003, but unfortunately my family had to give me up. My foster family was so good to me, but I can’t tell you how excited I am to have my new home. They say I’ll be staying put, except for car rides with my new family! I’m so spoiled as an only pet. Abbi and Lauren are my constant play mates. Two legged friends seem just has fun as my four legged friends from recent memory. We go on walks, play fetch, have story time every night, and they brush me too. I … Continue reading

06-44 Molly

Molly is a beautiful one-year-old with a loving disposition. Her first owners kept her in a small pen in the yard where she was very lonely. A concerned neighbor rescued Molly and asked GRRIN to help. Molly’s new mom Kimberly works from home, and Molly rarely leaves her side! Molly also has two new golden sisters, Tess and Abby. The three dogs love to play, and they sleep snuggled together in a pile. Congratulations to Molly and her forever family!

06-39 Buddy

Hi! I used to be called Robbie, and I didn’t have a permanent home for awhile. Now my name is Buddy, and I have an exciting new home! My new family is very busy, which I really like. All the people that come by the house like to pet me! I was a bit sick when I first got here, but I am feeling much better. I had forgotten what it was like to have cats around, but I am remembering quickly with a bit of help. One of the cats already seems to like me. Everyone can tell I … Continue reading
