Happy Tails

Our goal in GRRIN is to get every foster dog to their forever home. Each “Happy Tail” is a reflection of the caring effort shared by volunteers and the families who open up their homes to a rescued Golden Retriever.

14-13 Strider (previously Odie)

Hello!  I used to be called Odie but my new name is Strider. I was adopted about two months ago by Cat, John, and their resident dog Tatiana, and I love my new home. Cat says I am “naughty” and “incorrigible” but that’s what makes me so much fun. I like to steal the cat beds and drive Tatiana nuts. When Cat & John aren’t looking, I get cranky with my neighbor dog, Lucy, but then I turn on the charm. I’ve heard the words “very intelligent” used about me because I like to watch Zoboomafu on TV – I … Continue reading

13-41 Husker

Husker here!  I figured I’d better send an update to GRRIN before the next big UNL football game so read on to find out what’s been happening with me. I came to GRRIN almost a year ago from a rescue group in Iowa. They thought I was a sweetheart but didn’t have room for me so a nice guy named Jeff came and picked me up. I had a mini-vacation at Jeff’s and one with Elbert, but I ended up with Scott, Kelly, and their son Zach. They were a great foster family and really worked with me once they … Continue reading

14-03 Kaiya

Kaiya here, checking in!  I am happy to say that I was just adopted by my foster family.  When I first came to live with Roger & Debe I was a very nervous dog, but I slowly got used to living with cats and another canine friend.  Simple things like fast movements and loud noises scared me so Roger worked hard to gain my trust and build my confidence.  GRRIN sent a lot of families to meet me, and I went to visit other homes, but I just didn’t seem to get along with anyone else.  After a year in … Continue reading

14-12 Addison

Hi, everyone! I’m Addison, but you can call me “Addy.” I moved in with my “furever” family the end of June. Even though I’ve only lived here a couple of months, I feel like I’ve been part of the family forever! My mom and dad, Jodi and Eric, and my sister, Taryn, made me feel right at home. I play dress up with my sis, go to Starbucks with Mom and out to the Farmer’s Market with Dad. (I just love meeting new people!! If they tell me what a sweet girl I am, I lean right in and soak … Continue reading

14-09 Madison

I am Madison and I think I may be the luckiest Golden Retriever ever. I had a very good home and learned all the good things a Golden should know. But sometimes things change. GRRIN helped me find a new forever home and I couldn’t be happier. My new brother Junior has helped me get acquainted with the family and show me around. We have become good friends. When it comes to my new family, I have done a good job helping them get their exercise and improve their throwing arms. I know some might think it is a big … Continue reading

13-24 Bailey

Hi everyone!  Bailey here!  I’m doing great in my new home and have been with Jerry and Megan for several months.  Megan sent some great new photos of me – I’m so handsome!  I’m living the good life and having a fun time keeping this young couple busy giving me hugs and fetching my tennis ball.  I love hanging out and entertaining everyone, I even had my own meet-the-neighbors party.  Thanks to GRRIN for finding me such wonderful people who will keep this senior dog comfortable and happy!

14-08 Dakota (formerly Teddy Bear)

Hi everybody! I’m Dakota and I was adopted a few months ago but I’m finally getting a chance to share my adoption story with GRRIN. My former name was Teddy Bear, and I came from Oklahoma where I’d lived outdoors my entire life. After that experience, let’s just say I don’t like thunderstorms! The good folks from a rescue in Oklahoma took me in and then asked GRRIN for help with my foster care – of course they drove right down and picked me up so I could live with Cathi and her resident dogs for a while. I quickly … Continue reading

14-04 Cuddles

Hello. My name is Cuddles Marie – now. Mom says every kid should have a middle name so she knows if she is in trouble or TROUBLE. First, I want to thank GRRIN for rescuing me. They literally saved my life. I have Addison’s Syndrome. They brought me up from Kansas and placed me with my awesome foster dad, Bob. He cared for me, loved me and spoiled me. He made the frightening and confusing transition from my home to foster care a breeze. He also helped pick out a super new furever home for me. Although I pretty much … Continue reading

14-07 Buffy

Hi. My name is Buffy, and I came to Nebraska from Iowa last March. I was 11 years old then, and went to live with Judy. Judy never could believe I was that old, because I am still really active and love to go on walks. But I’ve been having a few medical problems, and the nice people at GRRIN and Judy have decided that I’m just going to stay with her for the rest of my life. I think they call this “hospice” instead of adoption, but I don’t care. Judy and I are happy together, and I like … Continue reading

14-05 Buddy

Hi!  I’m Buddy and I’m one lucky dog.  My original family couldn’t keep me so the nice folks at GRRIN took me in and I went to a very fun foster home.  My foster mom Lee Ann told everyone I am the perfect dog.  There was a family that had been working with GRRIN for almost a year, waiting for their perfect dog.  It turns out it was me!  Their three daughters think I’m awesome and love to give me attention.  Here’s what my new dad said about me: Buddy “is very excited when we come home but only jumps … Continue reading

14-02 Ruby

Hi everyone! it has been a whirlwind couple of months, but I am now settling well into my forever home! I had a short stay at Chris’s and Janez’s house, but it did not take long for Mary and her son Louis to claim me as theirs. They had been waiting for a very long time, and the fit is perfect! Louis takes me for walks and Mary loves up on me! I get plenty of attention, which is one of my main goals in life, and love being part of this family! Thank you, GRRIN for taking care of … Continue reading

13-27 Max

Max here. It has been a long trip to where I am now, but life is pretty darn good. You see I was diagnosed with a disease that is hard to treat, but my foster mom, Kate, did everything possible to get me the right treatment and went above and beyond what most people would have done, to help manage the disease. She took me to multiple vet appointments, bathed me regularly, watched my diet and continued to love me the entire time. Then came Stephanie. She is a vet at the Omaha zoo, and we fell in love with … Continue reading

13-39 Tucker

It has now been over a week, and I am doing great in my forever home! I am very busy going between the upstairs kitchen window door and the downstairs window door…perfect place for squirrel patrol! And yes, I do this job well! I also love to run the fence with the two neighbor dogs although I am not as crazy with the barking as they are! I love being outside with my new dad, Steve, while he is raking leaves. I had two walks Monday and three walks yesterday, and one this morning … my leash skills are holding … Continue reading

14-01 Belle

I always wanted a large family and now I have one! I have a new mom and dad, Jordan and Renee. Included in my family are Renee’s parents – so I have grandparents! Cool, huh? I also have two sisters age 6 and 9 who play with me and love me! There is always someone around, so I am hardly ever alone, which I love! I really enjoyed my foster family – Dave and Michelle and their two canines, but now I am more the center of attention – which suits me just fine! Thank you, GRRIN, for first taking … Continue reading

Bo & Bella

Hi guys! It’s me Bo, reporting in for Bella and I. We came to GRRIN right before Christmas because our family had to move and couldn’t take us. We were sad, but luckily had each other to rely on as we adjusted to our foster home. We quickly learned the routine with Seth and Erika. They put us on a diet though because we had a little extra weight, but did you know that green beans are really yummy? GRRIN spent several months trying to find the right home for us, but everyone finally realized that we’d been home the … Continue reading

13-45 Rusty (now Rocky)

My original hometown was in Alaska, but now I am a Nebraska boy! I am so happy that I was able to find a new forever home after relocating from the far north. I was always loved and it has been said that I am a very sweet guy so I couldn’t have been happier to make my home with Danielle, Cesar and their two boys. I have been very busy taking walks, going to the dog park, following Danielle and Cesar around the house and loving up the boys. Oh, I can’t forget Samantha the cat. She isn’t so … Continue reading

13-23 Coco

Some rescue dogs should really be rescue “cats” because they have nine lives!  Coco is one of those dogs.  Oh, the stories she could tell about her former homes, living both indoors and out, dealing with not-so-nice dogs and a lot of change, but this grey-faced gal finally landed a spot in her true “furever” home.  After being adopted, she bonded quickly with her new family.  Unfortunately, Coco became very ill, and this is when she got yet another “life” because her new family did everything to figure out what was wrong with Coco to try to get her healthy … Continue reading

13-22 Max

Hi there!  I’m Max and I was adopted back in August, but I’ve been so busy in my new home that I am just now getting a story to GRRIN about how I’m doing.  I love my new mom and dad, Jody and Jim.  They take me on walks twice a day even if it’s really cold outside (we just go a shorter distance on those days).  I have been getting used to the family cat, who thinks I’m her new best friend.  The biggest adjustment is getting fewer treats as I whittle down my winter waistline!  Mom and dad … Continue reading

13-11 Nina

Hi my name is Lilly (formerly Nina) and I was adopted 3 months ago and I love my new furever home. I am spoiled, I know it, and I sure do like that. I love attention and I get that also. I have also learned new skills. My first new skill I learned is that I may be the new kid on the block but I am not the only dog on the block. I have learned to get along with my neighbor who is a real nice sweet ol’ dog. My mom reminds me when I go outside to … Continue reading

13-43 Max

My 6th birthday on Dec. 10, 2013 turned out to be the best one ever because that’s the day I found out I was getting a forever family! A few days later, I moved to my new home with Sean, Tracy and the kids, along with my new fur sister Macy. My foster family took great care of me and started to teach me some rules in the house which I continue to work on now. My mom hopes that I’ll become a good running partner for her, especially when it gets warmer outside. I love playing with my kids … Continue reading

13-38 Lady

Hi! I have been through a few moves and changes lately, but in the end, it was worth it. My foster home with Deb and Roger was wonderful. They took good care of me through surgery and helping me to get used to house living, They gave me a lot of support and love. Then came Cookie and Myron. I thought perhaps I was just moving temporarily again, but nope! They wanted me to be part of their family – forever! I am right at home with the family. They don’t even get mad when I take their grandson’s stuffed … Continue reading

Hello to all! My name is Lucky, and my name says it all! I am the luckiest guy alive. I am forever grateful to the good people of GRRIN for introducing me to my new family who have welcomed me into their home. I joined two resident dogs Bentley (a Golden) and Spencer (a Cocker Spaniel), my new mom and dad, Becky and Jeff, and my human sister Sarah. When I first arrived at Jeff and Becky’s I encountered something unexpected…..the cat, who is appropriately named….Kitty. We have all enjoyed her company. Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about her…it’s like she has been a part of our family forever!” Boy, how is that for a great report card? Sometimes she just runs and runs in the backyard going nowhere in particular, just running around the entire yard. She loves following her new Golden brother Buck around and playing with her basket of toys. She loves living in the country, loves playing ball, loves to eat, loves to snuggle and just in general loves life! Miss Daisy became a part of our family in December 2013. We had been grieving over the loss of our 14 year old Golden, Joey, and we were ready to start looking into finding a new fury friend to love. Well, LOVE, we did. We fell in love with Daisy immediately and although she has only been with us for a short time, she is already a beloved member of our family. Daisy is 8 years old and a perfect blend of silly, calm, and sweet. She is fantastic with our kids and they just adore her! She loves to … Continue reading
