Hi! I’m Kahne and I was adopted by Bob and Lorraine in December. I used to live outside in a kennel but now I’m an indoor dog. I love to play fetch the ball in the back yard with Bob. I also love the snow! I will go out and just roll in it. There is a Cat at my new home. I’ve never been around cats before so I barked at it the first time I saw it. I didn’t see Cat again for 2 days. Cat finally came around and now we are good friends, HOWEVER this cat … Continue reading
I was surrendered to GRRIN because I was a young handful for my former owners. Luckily I was fostered by Charlene and John, who let me give them a lot of sloppy kisses and puppy hugs. It didn’t take long before Chris and Dusti wanted to meet me and see if I could get along with their three girls and resident dog, Maci. I was a hit and now I get to go for runs with my dad, fetch slippers for my mom, and chase balls with Maci and my new kids! Thanks to GRRIN for finding me such a … Continue reading
Wilson was fostered by Terry before the holidays and adopted within two weeks – just in time to have his picture taken with Santa! He has become a lap dog in his new home, transitioning quickly to a different environment and family. Wilson loves to play in the snow with Noah, running, jumping, and burying his nose in the white stuff (and we’ve had plenty of that this winter). Wilson is also quite a hero, waking up early one morning in the master bedroom to alert Noah’s parents that Noah was stuck in the stairs of his bunk bed – … Continue reading
In my wildest dreams I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect home to be mine forever. Jim, Peg and Ann, their daughter, have taken me into their home. I was fostered by Kimberly for about 2 weeks. I loved playing with Tess and Abby, her Goldens. It was a whole new world for me. And now I am in another world with lots of love and attention. Peg takes me for runs, which I really love! I am learning to climb stairs, and actually sprained my ankle the first time I tried them, but it will be okay. Ted is … Continue reading
“Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do…” My answer was a resounding YES when Ted and Patty wanted to take me home with them for their own. Ted is retired and spends lots of time with me. I love jumping in his lap, and he just laughs! We walk for about an hour every day. Ted and I are going to start an obedience class at the end of the month – he seems to think I shouldn’t jump up on people! Huh! But I am quickly becoming Daddy’s little girl and I will do anything to please him! I … Continue reading
GRRIN is very lucky to have families that are willing to give a forever home to senior Goldens. Mike and Shannon were already waiting to adopt a senior girl – Gracie was only in foster care for a few weeks! Here’s their story: From the time Mike and I started the adoption process with GRINN, we said we wanted to adopt a Golden Oldie. Krieger’s nine and an independent dog. Mara’s four and has always been the ‘baby’ of the family, we thought a puppy might ruin her spirit. We thought she’d like an older sister and playmate. Plus dogs … Continue reading
Gunner was surrendered by a family who could no longer afford to take care of him. He needed his shots and a good teeth cleaning. At first it was though that Gunner had chronic ear infections, but the vet found a polyp in his ear and once that was removed he no longer had ear problems. He is a gentle, loving dog who cuddles up to anything and anyone. He was fostered by Ron and Marilyn and their Golden, Jake. Gunner was adopted by his forever family Jill and Tanner and is getting along famously with the resident dog, Jaxon. … Continue reading
Hello! Although you might have known me as Diddle, with my new home I got a new name… Cooper! Great name, right? Let me tell you what, my family is just what I needed. Lisa and Randy, my new parents, just adore me. I have new toys everywhere and we go on walks and play fetch all of the time. The best news is that I have a great pal to run around with, Jake (thats him on the right), and two very patient cat sisters to sniff out. We are one big, happy family and I think I am … Continue reading
My name is Jack. I had heard rumors that life with humans was good, but take it from me, it absolutely ROCKS! My first two years were spent chained outside, and I was pretty lonely…except when I managed to escape and run the streets! After numerous run-ins with the law, some good people decided that I’d had enough paroles and placed me into the GRRIN Protection Program. I started my journey at the home of Bruce and Rebecca. I met their Goldens Jazz and Dexter, and it was PARTY TIME! Well, for a little while…because before I realized it I … Continue reading
Hi, I’m Sophie! My new mom says I could be the poster child for GRRIN’s requirement that dogs live in the house as part of the family. In my first home I was kept outdoors, where I was so lonely that I developed some bad habits like jumping up and mouthing people. I just wanted someone to pay attention to me, but my owners didn’t want me anymore because of these behaviors. GRRIN took me in, and Jean and Mike took one look and fell in love with me! I’m a devoted lap dog, and I’m completely happy when I’m … Continue reading
I’m Maggie (formerly Mackenzie) and I’m finally getting to tell my story! I was adopted on October 1st after being fostered by Terry and his two dog buddies, Maggie and Harley. I got to play all the time at Terry’s, and the older dogs made sure I minded my manners and learned the house rules. I was ready for my new home in no time – I’m pretty smart for an eight month old. Mike and Carolyn met me and then I got to meet their two little resident canines. We all got along but it doesn’t matter too much … Continue reading
I made it! Yeah! I am in my forever home and just tickled pink! (Can a big boy like me be pink?) Anyway, I have great parents in Kelley and John and two brothers, Thomas and Christian. It was Thomas’ idea to adopt me, and I just know we will be the best of buds! Christian is only 2, so we will have some growing up to do together. I have a great yard to run around in, and based on all the walking we have been doing, a great neighborhood also. I did take myself for a brief tour … Continue reading
Hi! I’m Murphy and I came to GRRIN all the way from Kansas. I was a stray out in the country and Bob kept me for a while, but he decided I need a full-time family, so he drove me to Nebraska for a second chance. My foster home was great! Have you heard of my foster dad, Terry, and his two dogs, Maggie & Harley? Well, they know how to put a youngster like me in my place but it still didn’t keep me from bouncing around all the time. In fact, Terry nicknamed me “Tigger”! When I met … Continue reading
Well, where do I start with my story? I left the vet recovered from my illness & feeling better, then other things in my life kept getting better too. I had a good quiet place in foster care to rest and recover, but now I’ve reached my final destiny, my forever home. I do believe this is where I belong. Now I have a family who adores me, complete with kids, a cousin dog that’s a beautiful Golden too, neighborhood dog friends, walking and playing until I’m ready to nap. I even co-pilot the van when we take the kids … Continue reading
Hi, this is Zoe! My original name was Lady and I made my way to GRRIN via a humane society in Eastern Nebraska. My foster owners, Susie and Pat, made me feel at home instantly and I quickly stole their hearts with my happy disposition, energy, and joy with chasing tennis balls around the house. It didn’t take long for Dan and Sandi to meet me and then they decided to give me a forever home. It’s going great! I get to go on long walks and have discovered how fun it is to visit the dog park and play … Continue reading
Oh my goodness! I really picked the right family! John and Donna are my forever parents, and Michael is my “brother.” And best of all is my new BFF, Rocky. He is about my age, and we love playing together. We wrestle and chase tennis balls. We go for walks with John and Donna and enjoy the views and all the great smells. I miss my foster family, Scott and Kelly, but they taught me a lot and made the transition very easy for me. I am crated during the day when my parents are not home, but the minute … Continue reading
Hey there, Golden Lovers! My name is Jethro Gibbs, and I’m a mellow-yellow, laid-back, people-loving puppy! I’m a “field-line” Golden Retriever that is blonde, has less feathering, and a blockier head. I began my journey into GRRIN when my family had to move far away and couldn’t take me with them. The good people at GRRIN took in Spud (my name at the time), my sister Mackenzie 09-40 and father Diddle 09-38. I miss my original-family humans, but the life of a Golden Retriever is all about NEW ADVENTURES! My first GRRIN stop was in a foster home where I … Continue reading
Hi! I’m Casey and I came to GRRIN because my first family had to take a lot of time to deal with medical problems. I’m a really friendly guy and I LOVE kids, so I needed more attention. Well, I certainly have that with my new family. They have two young children and I go to work with my new dad. Here’s his story about me: “Casey has been great. The whole neighborhood has adopted him. The neighborhood kids all come over to play with him. He’s a big hit at work too, he comes with me most days and … Continue reading
Duke was surrendered to GRRIN over the 4th of July weekend by a family that traveled a lot and couldn’t keep him anymore. They were very sad, but Duke went to a brand new foster home and they decided he was such a great fit with their family that he should stay! Here is a picture of Duke with his new best friends Annie and Gus. (Annie is on the left, Gus in the middle, and Duke on the right, with the giant grin). He loves having a big backyard to run in and to chase Gus across. Some of … Continue reading
Thank goodness for GRRIN! I have very bad allergies and my family couldn’t afford to take care of me anymore. In my new foster home I ate a special diet and tried some new medicine so that my hair would grow back and I’d look even cuter than I already did. I even got allergy tested – can a dog be allergic to grass?! Despite my health issues, my new mom Cindy met me and decided I need to come live with her and her dad, Smokey. He is home with me all day and so is their older dog, … Continue reading
Hi ! My name is Maddie and I am 10 months old. I just love my new forever home and my new family loves me. I am still a puppy so I am still getting use to some of the rules, but for the most part my life here is easy going. I AM still a puppy, and I love to play! When I don’t think my owners are paying enough attention, I like to be sneaky and take shoes or toys that are not mine and prance in front of them sort of saying “look what I have”! But … Continue reading
I’m Buddy and I’m the luckiest dog in the world! I was surrendered to GRRIN because I was too busy and my family made me live outside. I loved my new foster home but it turned out that I had heartworms. Boy, did that make me nuts! I had to be kept quiet and couldn’t run around for months. That’s pretty hard on a young guy like myself. Even worse, the family that wanted to adopt me had to wait and wait and wait for me to get my clean bill of health. Well, now I’m busy making up for … Continue reading
We rescue dogs and they rescue us. Don’t you agree? Nearly seven years ago, we adopted a golden retriever puppy named Zeke. Zeke became an important member of our family, and the staff at Randolph Elementary as a Therapy Dog. More than once, Zeke helped a student calm down who was escalated, and inspired many students to read. Zeke rescued us. Two years ago, we rescued a one year old golden named Sophie from GRRIN. Zeke was only 4 years old at the time, but we knew somehow that Sophie would be important in giving Zeke “vacation days” as he … Continue reading
Some of you might recognize me as Brandy, but I have a new name: Maddie! My new owners, Matt, Brandie, Claire and Jack thought it might get a bit confusing to have the same name as my new mom so now I’m Maddie. First of all, thanks so much to my foster family: Amy, Rob, their baby daughter and their pets. They were all wonderful to me. My new family waited a long, long time to find just the right GRRIN dog and now they have. My sweet, gentle and relaxed disposition made me the perfect fit for their household. … Continue reading
Hey everyone, this is Rudy! I’m so happy and excited to be in my new home with Greg, Julie, Josh and Cassidy. I am definitely the top (and only!) dog in the house and boy am I enjoying all the attention. I had a great time when I stayed in a couple of foster homes, most recently with Joyce and her boys. They took such good care of me and really helped me learn lots of things that I need to know on my journey to being the best Golden ever. Now I’m well on my way with my new … Continue reading
