The wait is over! I’ve found my forever-home with Steve, Rhonda, and Kailin. For the first four years of my life I was an outside dog, living in a Kansas back yard with my sister, Sadie (you might know her as Sadie 11-28 – she’s also a GRRIN dog). My family was moving to a different house that didn’t allow dogs, so we had to find a new home. They put an ad on CraigsList, and a volunteer from GRRIN made some inquiries. Before I knew it I emigrated from Kansas to Nebraska! My new indoor surroundings were kind of … Continue reading
Adopted November 2010
Hi, this is Sadie. I wanted to tell you about my new forever home. I have a huge back yard and get to run around a lot. I met the 6 month old, little daschund next door, who chased me all around the yard. I let her chase me because it was fun and she needed the exercise. I have met the neighbors on both sides of my house and they are all very nice people. I have the run of the house because I have proven that I am trustworthy. At night, I get to sleep in front of … Continue reading
Dear friends at GRRIN – my adoption is complete! I am in my forever home! A few Fridays ago, my foster mom, Kate, and I drove to meet Jeremy at his home. We received the royal tour of the backyard and walked around the fishing pond/park (which is across the street from my new home). There are also walking trails – made just for us, I am sure! My new dad is wonderful. That is Jeremy in the pictures with me. He takes me for walks, and I spend all day with him. I have a very large back yard … Continue reading
Hi GRRIN fans, this is Ruby. Or, Miss Ruby as my fantastic foster mom, Misty, calls me. I’m yet another example of how awesome GRRIN is and how this great organization made sure I had a second chance. I was taken to the humane society in Lincoln when my family could no longer afford to keep me with them. I have to admit that made me sad. Then, some really nice people from GRRIN met me and before I knew it I was living with Misty and her Golden, Hawkeye. He turned out to be a terrific foster brother who … Continue reading
My name is Jake, and I was formerly known as Max. I started out my life as a pup in a family that loved me very much. Then circumstances changed, and they made the hard decision to give me up. Fortunately they called the good folks at GRRIN, and before I knew it I was in a terrific foster home with Dave, Michelle, and their resident Golden, Bo. It didn’t take me very long to fit in with this new “pack”. I’m very smart and have a medium temperament, so I learned the routine very quickly. Bo was a great … Continue reading
Hi! My name’s Clementine, but my new family changed my name to Sadie. I was rescued from a shelter in Kansas by this wonderful network called GRRIN! They helped me find my forever home! I am excited that my new family adopted me, although I miss my foster home. I like snuggling, belly rubs, playing outside with a soccer ball, and sleeping. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to play outside with my family or to go on walks with them! I don’t really like rabbits and get really jumpy and excited when I see one. I am still learning not to … Continue reading
Nicki here. I am the GRRIN dog with the not so golden retriever ears! That’s because I am part German Shepherd. That part was a concern for my new mom, as ALL of her GRRIN dogs have survived outings during the Nebraska summers by going swimming to cool off and get exercise. Since she already has Rex #08-36 and he swims like a shark, I needed to like the water too – German Shepherds are not always crazy about the water, but it turns out I love it! When my wonderful foster family took me over to visit, I walked … Continue reading
Hi, my name is Buddy, do you want to play ball? I’m a very sweet and highly energetic one year old boy, but I was a little too rowdy for my family’s grandson, so they made a tough decision and asked GRRIN to help find a more suitable home for me. My foster mom was smitten the first time she met me and so I went to live with Denise, Jim, Jamie and their resident dog, Jazzy. I was their very first foster dog so I tried real hard to be a perfect guest! While in foster care, I improved … Continue reading
Hi everyone! My name is Buddy. I came to GRRIN because my family was moving and couldn’t take me with them. I was very sad to leave but met my great foster parents, Seth and Erika, and their Golden boy Shiloh. I settled in very quickly but had a lot of medical problems. Seth and Erika took me to a lot of vet appointments and finally got me on the road to recovery. After being with my foster family for 8 months, they told me that they wanted me to stay with them forever! I was so happy and jumped … Continue reading
Greetings from Gauge! I’m a 3 year old girl who is very sweet & gentle. I was surrendered to GRRIN by a woman who rescued me from her neighbor when she realized that I wasn’t being treated like I should be. She trained me and taught me how to love and trust again, but she knew she couldn’t keep me forever. Her two service dogs were great role models and I showed them all how smart I was! I have very good manners and am easily corrected if I do something wrong (which isn’t very often I might add!). I … Continue reading
Sky is the perfect name for me because I love life so much that the sky’s the limit! I came into GRRIN because my personality was too much for a young family to handle. My energy used to get so pent up that I dug holes in my yard to keep busy. The good folks at GRRIN heard about me, and before I knew it I was in the loving foster home of Pat and Susie. I wasn’t bored there! They kept me busy and fine-tuned my manners. Life was great, but I had this inkling that this was a … Continue reading
I’m Lizzy, but you can also call me Lilly. I came in to GRRIN as Lilly, but I also got used to answering to Lizzy because my foster family had a house guest named Lizzie and my foster mom always got our names confused. This happened to work out swell because my forever parents have a grandchild named Lilly, and so we don’t get confused when they call me Lizzy. That’s kind of another story and I should have started at the beginning. I was surrendered to GRRIN because I had torn my ACL, a really important ligament in my … Continue reading
Yipee! I’ve found a new family! Oh..I forgot to tell you it’s me, Storm! I was just so excited to tell you of my great news. My new Mom saw my picture on the GRRIN website, went running outside and told my Dad to call right away and he did. Thanks Dad! My new Mom and Dad got to be my 2nd foster parents as my 1st ones, Zach & Kate, were going on vacation. Well, when my Dad picked me up he called Mom and said “you’re going to love him” and he was right. It was love at … Continue reading
I am so lucky – it didn’t take long for me to find my forever home! Kimberly was so wonderful to me, but Patricia is my new, forever mom. We got off to a rough start – I was a little bored when she left for work the first day, and made a little mess. Then I decided to go visit the neighbors another day and forgot to tell her where I was going. But I am learning the rules quickly. No more walking by myself and no more using the trash as entertainment! Some GRRIN folks came over and … Continue reading
My name is Farley, and I’ve been on a very long journey. I started out my life in a Missouri puppy mill with 200 other dogs. Life was rough, and I never knew what it was like to be loved. One day a nice lady took me and some other dogs out of the prison. I was very scared because I didn’t know what was happening. Whenever a human came up to me, I’d lay flat on the ground and not move. We made our way to a place called Nebraska, and I entered an organization called GRRIN. At first … Continue reading
Hey, everyone! I’m Grace, another GRRIN success story! I was surrendered by a family who had a bit more activity in their home than I could handle. Although I know you can hardly tell it from my photo (I’m the one on the right), I’m 13 years young and at the stage where quieter is better. I’m thriving in what used to be my foster home – now my forever home! I have a wonderful life with my mom, a long-time, dedicated GRRIN volunteer and her two other wonderful female Goldens. Girls definitely rule in our household! It was so … Continue reading
Hi, everyone. I’m a Golden Retriever by the name of Roxie. Life before GRRIN was pretty uncertain for me. Then along came a great GRRIN volunteer, and my life changed a lot! First I stopped at the vet to get my health maintenance checked out and caught up. Then I spent time at a great foster home where I got plenty of exercise, learned consistent structure, and received lots of affection! One day I met Mike, Colleen, and Kyle. Did you ever have one of those moments when you just “knew”? Well, I just knew that I was supposed to … Continue reading
I’m still marveling at how much my life has changed. I started out in a Missouri puppy mill – without a name and without affection. I was just a puppy-producing piece of agriculture. I was stuffed into a small cage, and my grooming was so poor that I lost the fur on my ears and my toenails curled under. One day I was taken out of this prison by some very nice humans. I never knew that people actually cared about me! I made my way into a group called GRRIN. My former captors had left word that I might … Continue reading
Hi everyone, its me Harley! I was surrendered from a family that didn’t have much time for me. I wasn’t used to living inside so boy was I happy when I met Misty and her Golden Retriever named Hawkeye. I have to admit that I really didn’t have the best manners when I first joined Misty’s pack. I may have tested my limits and chewed on a few things just to let her know I was there. Thankfully Misty is quite saavy when it comes to teaching dogs like me. Both she and Hawkeye taught me manners, patience and most … Continue reading
Hi, I’m Kota. You may have known me as Kingston or Jake or Scooter, but my new name is Kota and I’m so glad that I have just 1 name that I come to it every time! I’ve been in as many places as I’ve had names, so when GRRIN took me in and I went to live with Terry and my new foster family, I was glad to get some stability in my life. Terry worked with me for awhile on all those things stray dogs don’t know – how to eat your own food (out of your own … Continue reading
Hello there, I’m Liberty! I’ve got a great life story to tell, would you like to hear it? Let’s start at the beginning. My family got me when I was just a puppy. Since I was born close to the 4th of July, they named me Liberty. They loved me dearly and taught me many things. I know sit, down, come, stay and even shake. I love to greet people but I know not to jump up on them, I can be trusted alone in the house, I don’t have accidents, and I know you humans frown on begging and … Continue reading
Woof! My name is Kanai! I will be turning 2 years old in June. I was living with a family on a farm, spending all my time outdoors. My old family decided I needed more attention than what they could give me. I was rescued by GRRIN and went to live with some of the greatest foster parents! I became good buddies with their other dog, Buster. It was sad to leave my foster parents but GRRIN found me a new family that I love so much! My new family is Chris and Nikki. They are getting married this summer! … Continue reading
Hi, I’m Zeus. I started out as a stray in Sioux City. GRRIN volunteer, Rebecca, found me at the shelter and thought I would be a great GRRIN dog. My foster home was fantastic. Jim and Theresa and their three daughters were the nicest people. They gave me lots of love during my stay. I was very thin from being on the run. But Jim and Theresa worked on bulking me up to get ready to meet my forever family. Most dogs would be overwhelmed with all the people in my new family. There are nine of them. Julie, the … Continue reading
I’m Daisy, remember me? I’ve been getting settled in my forever home and having so much fun playing, but wanted to sit & stay long enough to tell you my story. It has been a big adventure. I’ll start from the beginning. When I was a pup I went home with a wonderful woman. She taught me all the things I had to know to get along in the world. She and I got along well and enjoyed each other’s company a lot. Unfortunately things in our life changed and my friend had to move to an apartment and couldn’t … Continue reading
