In case you don’t know, November is the best month. That is the month I was born in and the month when I found my forever family Brandy and Ross. I have had such a good time teaching them everything a human needs to know about a young golden retriever. I was surprised how quickly they learned to play fetch. Now they can play fetch for an hour every day! Of course I enjoy the game myself. I have also taught them how loving a sweet girl like myself can be. I stick close to their side when they are … Continue reading
Cali came to our home on a Saturday a few weeks before Christmas. We were really excited to have her come and be apart of our family. Since her profile did not say how she was with cats we were wondering how this first encounter would go. We have two adult cats, Lily & Marbles, who are used to living with a variety of animals and having other family members’ dogs over for visits. Cali did not pay much attention to the cats. Marbles watched her from the dining room table for a while. Lily made her way over to … Continue reading
We don’t even know where to start. Our world has been turned upside down, in the most wonderful way. This new path of our lives has been one of our favorite things, along with snuggling and belly rubs. We entered GRRIN with a very limited view on life. We have met so many great people and learned so many new things in the past few months. We didn’t know life could be so heavenly and full of people who care so much about us. We had wonderful care and nurturing in foster care, then the best couple in the world … Continue reading
I found it! I found it! What you may ask? My forever home, of course! I was so lucky to find Bonnie and Dave and it is like we have always been a family. I am doing so well, including with the cat! But mom knew I would! Their grand daughter and I play all day. And she adores me, and I adore her – it is a mutual admiration society! It’s all good. My new parents say they are lucky to have me – but I know I am the lucky one! We all sit outside in the evening … Continue reading
I’m enjoying settling into my new home. My new family is very impressed with my “doggie manners” thanks to my previous families. They are also learning the difference between dog toys and heavy chewer dog toys. They are happy that my chewing is controllable, no serious casualties thus far. Ryan and I play with tennis balls in the back yard. I love baths in my swimming pool. Jack & Pat also have 3 grown kids with 7 grandkids that all love playing with me – lots of tug-of-war and chasing fun. Randy got a kitten and I’ve learned that he … Continue reading
I’m so happy, oh so happy! I’m as happy as happy can be! Yep, I have a new forever home. I get to hang out with John all day. And Rosemary and I go romping around the neighborhood, generally twice daily. Okay, we don’t really romp, but she lets me go at my pace, sniffing things here, watching things there. Rosemary really likes my calm nature and we both enjoy our walks. And to boot, they have grandkids, and neighbor kids who all come around to play with me! I’ve got the best of both worlds: no live-in kids, but … Continue reading
Murphy here (formerly 13-18 Ronan), and I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time I have had since I came to GRRIN. First off, my foster mom Sabra and her golden Hudson realized what a great guy I am. They had faith in me and gave me lots of attention. My manners improved and they helped me find a forever family. I arrived at my new home full of energy and ready for my forever family to come along for the fun. You see, every day is an adventure for me. I like to think I infused … Continue reading
Thank you to the wonderful people at GRRIN for helping me find my forever family. My name is Cooper and I have been adopted by Dave, Joan, Ava & Emma. My new family gave me a middle name, Jay. I am so happy in my new home. My family loves having me around the house and the little girls always tell me how cute I am. I get lots of hugs and kisses. When we are in the backyard, I love to run around chasing balls and digging holes (although I’m not supposed to). I get brushed a lot and … Continue reading
Hello, my name is Zoey and I have just turned one year old! When I was just about six months old, I was adopted by my new family; Andrew, Erin, & Ryleigh (2yrs). I have loved living with them; especially playing with Ryleigh! While my human parents are fun, I really love chasing Ryleigh and playing wherever she is! She will make sure I get special “puppy treats” and gives me lots of hugs and kisses! I love going to the dog park too! Getting to swim and play chase with other dogs is the best! I also love when … Continue reading
In early March, GRRIN was asked by Rescue A Golden of Minnesota to foster two senior puppy mill “mamas”, Angel and Duchess. Both dogs were completely un-socialized with humans. Angel was transported to her foster home and it was quickly determined that she was about to have puppies! An ultrasound revealed three live pups, all expertly delivered within a few days. Unfortunately, two of the pups were born with defects and only one survived. For a time she was called Hope, but foster mom Brenda decided she was a Sadie. As the weeks passed, mama Angel adapted to living in … Continue reading
Frosty is one of GRRIN’s VIP’s – a Very Important Puppy! He was surrendered by a good samaritan who knew he’d been exposed to the cold and rescued him from a breeder. GRRIN usually tries to place puppies with their new owners immediately to avoid the confusion of bonding with a foster family and then the “forever” family. Luckily, Ely and Windy were approved to adopt and ready to take on the challenge of a puppy. Frosty had obviously suffered from some frostbite but the extent of the damage to his paws and nose would be revealed as he grew. … Continue reading
Sammie was surrendered to GRRIN because she was severely afraid of thunderstorms and her owner had to be away during Sammie’s panic attacks. She was very sad to give Sammie up but knew that GRRIN would work to find a family that could help Sammie with her fears. After a short period in foster care, it was determined that Sammie should be in a home where someone could be with her most of the time (doesn’t every Golden wish for that?). Fortunately GRRIN had Cher and her senior Golden, Tucker, approved to adopt! Cher is retired and spends time gardening … Continue reading
Jake came to GRRIN in March through another rescue organization, Retrieve A Golden of Minnesota (RAGOM). He was very typical of young male Goldens that still have a lot of puppy energy, so we knew he would need a family that could accept a challenge. Luckily Steve, Vickie and their 2 year old GRRIN doodle Stewart met Jake at an event and fell in love with Mr. Energy! After a few private visits, Jake was adopted in May and the fun really began. Even though they’re the same age, Jake made Stewart seem like an old man in comparison, but … Continue reading
My name is Buddy and even though I came to live with my forever family just about 1 month ago, my new mom, Melanie, says it feels like I have been a part of the family for a really long time. We have had great fun in this short time playing in my new backyard (which I also get to chase squirrels and rabbits out of!) and going on car rides and visiting friends and family! In fact, I have been so happy here lately that when we go outside to play, I start running big, crazy, happy dog laps … Continue reading
My name is Hunter. I am 10 years old. I came into GRRIN because my wonderful owner was dying. He had taken me to some really fun GRRIN functions, and he knew that they would take great care of me, and he was so right. My foster mom/new mom took me to see my owner as much as she could and we were both so glad to see each other every time. I even got to be the guest of honor at his Memorial Service. My foster family fell in love with me, but it took them a while to … Continue reading
When I was named Lucky, little did I know how lucky I would really be! I had a wonderful home with a mom who absolutely adored me – and when her circumstances changed I had an opportunity to come into the GRRIN family. My foster mom, Kate, worked with me on some of my socialization skills and introduced me to other dogs so I would know how to interact. She was great with me. Then one day I was told I was going to have a special visitor. His name was Alex. Something told me this was someone special. And … Continue reading
This is Cheeto here, reporting from my fabulous forever home! Merry and Ken recently lost their beloved Golden, and I am helping them get through it. They are so good and kind to me, and they said getting me was like Christmas! I am so glad they feel that way because the feeling is mutual! My foster mom, Cathi really worked with me to overcome some initial nervousness and I am grateful for all she did for me. As much as I loved it at her house, when Merry and Ken came along, I knew they were the ones I … Continue reading
Easter Sunday used to mean nothing to me. But now I will celebrate it forever as the happiest day of my life! You see, I found my forever home and was adopted on Easter Sunday! I met my future family the day before and immediately we took to each other. Nancy and Craig live in Lincoln and drove all the way to Papillion just to meet me! That tells you right there that they are special! I had come from a farm where I had little socialization and certainly no family interaction. My foster mom came and picked me up … Continue reading
Well, well, well, am I a happy and very lucky girl! I found my forever home with Tim, Konda and Georgia! Tim and Konda are my new parents and Georgia is my new canine sister. We all get along great! I have lots of toys to play with and a huge yard to go exploring. We go for walks during the day, I surprised Mom by barking at a truck on one of our walks, which may not seem like much, but because I had nothing to say previously she had not heard my voice (after all, I have it … Continue reading
It’s me Odie, do you see me, do you see me, do you see me?!? I came to GRRIN in 2009. I gave all of my fosters a run for their money. But then this wonderful family came to see me and they fell in love. I mean, how could they NOT. I learned so much from them. I loved my forever family. But then one day I heard my humans talking about how their schedules were going to change and this meant I would have to be alone for longer periods of time. Goldens are not fans of being … Continue reading
Thank you to the wonderful people at GRRIN for helping me find my forever family. My name is Ginger and I was a stray until the great people from GRRIN took me in. I have been adopted by Judy and Dick and Brody (their resident golden). I am so, so happy in my new home and I keep Brody running and playing ball with me. Judy and Dick have been so kind to me and are going to take me to obedience school so I can be an even better girl! I can not thank them and GRRIN enough. Well, … Continue reading
I’m Sam and it’s been a while since I was adopted in 2012 but I’ve been so busy at my new home that I haven’t had a chance to send an update to GRRIN. I was surrendered by a really nice family who decided that I wasn’t very happy living with them. I had chewed a big sore on my front leg and the folks at GRRIN thought maybe I should go to a home that was really quiet and relaxing, so I went to live with Danielle. She didn’t have any other pets and her house was like dog … Continue reading
I’m Alvin and I am happy to announce that I’ve had a great second chance in life. My first owner was sad to let me go but I had to live outdoors and he knew that wasn’t best for me so he sent me to GRRIN. I loved my foster mom Cathi, and playing with all of her resident dogs. At GRRIN events I was a hit and everyone thought I would be the perfect dog, especially Christina and her kiddos (my new playmates) who immediately knew I was supposed to be their forever family member. My new mom says … Continue reading
Before my Forever Family adopted me, I was called Billy. My new parents thought I looked more regal than that, so they named me Bennington Foxworth, but please, call me Benny. Now that we have exchanged pleasantries, let me tell you about my life the past six months. I came to my forever home with only my favorite basketball. I couldn’t believe that my mom and dad made me a blanket, got me my own bed, and had a brand new basketball and lots of other toys to play with. My little dog brother, Gus, showed me how to play … Continue reading
Tank came to GRRIN in August of 2012 because his family could no longer keep him. His foster mom quickly discovered that Tank suffered from severe allergy problems and he began a series of allergy injections which meant he would be in foster care for a while as he improved. That was fine with mom Lois because she absolutely adored Tank and thought he was the perfect dog! In November, Tank was ready to meet families but his continued medical care was going to be very expensive and included continuing his injections. Fortunately, Ty and Heather were not concerned about … Continue reading
